LEADING THE HYDROGEN FUEL CELL CAR RESEARCH FOR THE ANNUAL CHEMICAL ENGINEERING CAR COMPETITION

For the 2017-2018 Annual Chemical Engineering Car Competition, I served as the team captain. Our team represented California State University Long Beach’s entire Chemical Engineering Department. After must consideration, we decided to deter from the usual path of aluminum air batteries and move towards fuel cells to power our vehicles. Due to the lack of research or experience with this method, my team and I were trail blazing and discovering all the different ways hydrogen could be utilized as a power source in our car. Our research and experiments were based on our understanding of power requirements, power generation, and power sustainability via hydrogen needed in our car. With tremendous amounts of teamwork, delegation, and collaboration, our team placed within the top five of all teams in California.
